Two of our very own, Angela Forss Schmit and Michael Milone, have been selected as 2022 Super Lawyers Great Plains Rising Star, an honor reserved for those lawyers who exhibit excellence in practice.
This badge of honor is only awarded after a thorough, multiphase selection process. During the selection process, lawyers are prohibited from nominating themselves and from campaigning for the award. It is through the research, nomination, and recommendation of their peers that adds these lawyers into the candidate pool.
From their nomination, independent research is conducted to evaluate one’s achievements, accolades, experience, pro bono and community service, activity within the industry, education, employment background, and many other high-performing indicators.
The highest-scoring candidates then serve on the Blue Ribbon Panel to evaluate other candidates within their primary practice area. Based on the evaluation, the top 5% of total lawyers in the state are selected for the Super Lawyers list. An additional 2.5% of the remaining candidates who are 40 years old or younger, or have been in practice for 10 years or less, are selected as a Rising Star.
